Meet the team
Catherine Fink and Louise Tapper run Thrive.
We established our community occupational therapy service in 2011 in response to the Canterbury Earthquakes. At that time there was demand for supporting older people in the community who had become increasingly anxious, socially withdrawn and disengaged from their usual health promoting daily activities. Our holistic, practical and strengths based approach to working with these people was and continues to be very effective.
We have continued to develop and evolve our service over the last 7 years. We have built strong working relationships with a range of General Practices, other allied health professionals and with community groups such as Age Concern, The Centre for Senior Wellbeing, Better Breathing, Life Fit, and Driving Miss Daisy.
In 2018 we changed our business name from Port Hill Therapists to Thrive. We have done this because Thrive is a better reflection of how we work and what we aim to achieve for our clients.
Our passion and job is helping people to THRIVE by staying well, happy and active in their homes and communities. We focus on enabling self management, independence in everyday activities and staying safe and happy in the home and community. We value building lasting relationships with our clients and being available at any point in their journey.
We are:
- Qualified and NZ Registered Occupational Therapists
- Experienced – we have both worked 18+ years in both public and private services.
- Based in Christchurch
How do we work?
In addition to traditional Occupational Therapy approaches we also use motivational interviewing, wellbeing approach, a restorative approach of care, positive ageing and positive psychology.
